Pokinitis

This was just too cute-- from the perspective of a person who can't wait to be a Mommy.... (s0meday, ehh...)

Anyway, from the perspective of a future ELA teacher- Will Richardson's is the epitome of appeal to students with different learning styles.

I LOVE the idea of letting students author their own work- and not just non-fiction, but nonfiction as well.

The possibilities for this are endless:
-Creating a children's book to read and mentor younger students

-Publication in a school or class library

-(As Will says:) Recording the book to be published online

-Publishing a visual copy of the book online

-Letting students with authoring abilities to couple with students with illustrating abilities (what have we learned about group collaboration, kids??)

-ETC ETC ETC

What else can I say??

I could not agree with you more. We want to encourage students to be their own authors, publishers, thinkers. No more slouching of boredom in a seat while the teacher lectures on and on and on. Will basically reinforced the idea of why professor stearns helped us to create our own blogs and he reminded us of what we have been doing this entire semester. Becoming our own author, voicing our thoughts and opinions not because we are being told to, but because we want to and because we can.

Encouraging is the best thing here. I think one of the most important aspects is when Will tries to get her daughter to exhaust all resources. If you don't exhaust all resources, they just go to waste
